We have two scales developed here at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. For more information or to request a specific scale, please reach us on our contact us page.
Self-Rated Emotional Intelligence Scale
The self-rated emotional intelligence scale is included in the appendix of the article Relating Emotional Abilities to Social Functioning: A Comparison of Self-Report and Performance Measures of Emotional Intelligence. It uses a mean score, as described in the article.
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Scale for Teachers
For scoring, we created a simple mean score. However, our Assessment Team would suggest using a 4-point scale without a neutral midpoint, as Item Response Theory analyses typically suggest that neutral midpoints function more like a “does not apply” or missing response than a true midpoint.
