Mariam Korangy, M.A., is a senior consultant at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence focusing on Educational Technology. Mariam has contributed to the RULER for Families team designing workshops, games and videos for trainings geared towards families implementing RULER in their homes. She is currently working with the technology team at the Center to create online tools and applications to teach RULER during trainings, inside the classroom, and at home with families.

Mariam has over 10 years of teaching experience in New York City, both in private and public schools, in addition to working in the educational media field. Mariam is also a Star Factor coach, a group which develops school leaders-principals, superintendents, and others – in the theory and practice of emotional intelligence. She serves on the President’s Advisory Council at Teachers College, Columbia University and the Newcomb-Tulane College Dean’s Advisory Board. Prior to joining the Center, she worked at the Manhattan School for Children and was a founding faculty member of The School at Columbia on the Child Study Team. 

Mariam has also worked at Channel Thirteen/ PBS Online Ed department on the VITAL project, which provides standards-based lessons with media resources and assessments to educators and parents. While living in Paris, Mariam served on the board of the Bilingual Montessori School of Paris as the Treasurer. In the past, she has served in committee leadership roles for the New York Central Park Conservancy’s Playground Partners, The Asia Society, and The New York Junior League. 

Mariam is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in Communications and Education at TC and is studying the impacts of technology and gaming on learning.
