Karina Villareal Medved, M.A., is the Program Manager for Out-of-School Time at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. The OST Team focuses on adapting the RULER approach for OST settings (i.e., after school and summer programming). Their current focus involves developing youth curriculum and professional development resources for OST staff that are grounded in social and emotional learning.

As a McNair Scholar, Karina earned her B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University. She then earned her Masters in Community Psychology with a concentration in Program Development from the University of New Haven. Before coming to the Center, Karina spent most of her career on the frontline of the non-profit sector carrying out her passion for serving youth and families. Her field work thus far has focused on developing, revamping, and implementing culturally-responsive systems interventions in public schools and OST programs.

During her spare time, Karina enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.
